Chemical Research
The three main chemical substances found in speed stick are Aluminum Zirconium (Al4Zr (OH)12Cl4 Gly x nH2O), Di- propylene Glycol (C6H14O3), and PPG-14 Butyl ether (C10H2203). The Aluminum Zirconium inside the deodorant keeps the arm pit itself fresh and nicely scented for hours. The Di- propylene Glycol acts as a plasticizer so that it is smooth and able to rub against the armpit without any hard friction. The PPG-14 Butyl ether acts as the moisturizer in the product. That cold and weird feeling of the deodorants is actually restoring the dry skin in your armpits.
Personal and Environmental Safety
Aluminum Zirconium may result in allergic reactions like contact dermatitis, acne or itching. If too much is absorbed through the skin can cause cancerous and non-cancerous cells in the breasts. It is better to use non spray deodorant because the chemical Chlorofluorocarbon and causes a threat to the ozone layer.

Dipropylene Glycol Has no effect on humans and has very low toxic levels? Causes no threat to personal uses. Very safe for the environment and is even used in food flavoring.
PPG-14 Butyl ether is not harmless to the environment but can cause cancer if absorbed too many times.

Procedure
The materials needed were tom's deodorant, speed stick deodorant, alcohol pads and Q-tips.
1. Use alcohol pad to wipe armpit to get off any deodorant that was used earlier
2. Place either deodorant onto a separate armpit
3. Run for total of 15 minutes
4. Swab pit with Q-tip
Results
According to the results seen below, the outcome of the sweat/deodorant mixture with the deodorant being Tom’s resulted in a bacteria in which odors are born. The Speed Stick brand however didn’t have such bacteria present in the mixture. Results showing how the brands formula neutralized sweat to prevent odor. Although the brand did neutralize the sweat better than Tom’s, an abundance of mold formed within the mixture, posing a threat to users.

Proposed Improvement
A proposed improvement for the Speed Stick brand would be to figure out just what ingredients causes the mold build up within the mixture and try to find an alternative for such chemicals. This would reduce the mold build up and ultimately make the product safer for household uses.
