Different baby lotion brands.
How does different brand's of baby lotion affect the moisturize of your skin?
Sometimes I would wash my baby cousin and then moisturize her skin with any kind of baby lotion that is in the house. As I went shopping with my aunt the other day I notice the different bands of baby lotion. I wonder if different bands of baby lotion is different in moisturize and do they all small the same.





Another shared ingredient is glycerin. Glycerin is a polyol compound. it is also a colorless, odorless liquid that is sweet-tasting and non-toxic. Glycerin has a chemical formula of C2H8O3.


A chemical that is only in Johnson's Johnson out of the other three lotions is Ethylhexylglycerin. Ethylhexylglycerin is also know as Octoxyglycerin this is a glyceryl ether that is used as part of a preservative system in cosmetics. Ethylhexyglycerin has a chemical formula of C11H24O3.
Then, I measured the moisturize after 20 minutes. These are my results:
Finally, It is a big drop of percentage. I think this happened because at the beginning it is still kind of wet on my skin and leaving it on for 20 minutes gave it time to soap into my skin.

Chemicals
Before i tell you about my results, let me start by telling you the about some of the chemicals and the role they play in baby lotion. The three diff brands of lotion I use are Johnson's Johnson, Parent's choice, and Aveeno. Johnson's Johnson calms to moisturize baby's skin head to toe. Parent's choice calms to soften baby's skin. Aveeno calms to protect skin and moisturize for 24 hours. Two ingredient that they all have in common is cetyl alcohol, and glycerin. A ingredient that they all share in common is Cetyl alcohol is also known as hexadecane-1. Cetyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol with a chemical formula of CH3(CH2)15OH.

Experiment and results
For my experiment, I decided to test three different kinds of baby lotion. I want to see if there is a different in the moistization. I also wonder if they all smelled the same or not. I first started with Johnson's Johnson, then Parent's choice, and then finally Aveeno.
Procedure
- Go buy the lotion if you don't already have it
- Wash your arm with soap and water
- dry your arm with a towel
- Apply the lotions one at a time, at different times
Results
First, I measured the moisturize of the three lotion on my skin. These are the percentages after I first put the lotion on.

Finally, It is a big drop of percentage. I think this happened because at the beginning it is still kind of wet on my skin and leaving it on for 20 minutes gave it time to soap into my skin.
