Does Dove Deodorant Actually Lasts Longer Than Degree's Deodorant?
Introduction: We have been using the Dove's men deodorant for about 4 years now and by far has been the best that We have ever used. We would always wonder if the deodorant really last for 48 hours because it should if we're paying almost eight dollars for it. We believe that these products should live up to their potential hype. Is these deodorant brands worth us buying?
VS.
Ingredients:
To cap off on the cosmetic project, let's take a look at some particular ingredients that are in these similar products. The main product that seems to be the main ingredient is Cyclopentasiloxane. The chemical formula for this deodorant is C10H30O5Si5. This particular formula is used as a conditioner, it could give off silky and slippery feeling to either your hair or your skin. It's used in defoamers, cosmetics and even lubricants. It is made of silicon, oxygen and alkane.

A second chemical that is in Dove and Degree deodorant is Stearyl Alcohol the chemical used in both deodorants. The chemical formula is C18H38O. This chemical is used as a texture enhancer. It is also a organ system toxicity meaning it can potentially burn the inside your body if too much is put on and left on for a long period of time. This chemical can also mess your immune system. This chemical is also a natural fatty alcohol.

The third and last chemical that is in the deodorants is Alkyl Benzoate. It is a glyceryl ester and is also a natural ingredient that comes from either fruits or vegetables. It is made of benzoic acid and long alcohol chains. It is know to make your skin smooth and very soft. The chemical formula of Alkyl Benzoate is C19H30O2. Alkyl Benzoate is one of the most important and main ingredients used in cosmetics today. Alkyl Benzoate holds no specific dangers to the environment, it is seen as a very safe chemical to the environment being as though it is a natural product.

Experiments:
As you all know we have been focusing on which deodorant scent last longer out of Dove men and Degree.
Step 1: Both put our deodorant on at the same time in the mornings. Wyseem & Mike rubs armpits 3 times at 7:00am.
Step 2: During our lunch period we lift our right arms up and walk past one another 2 feet away to see how strong the scent is.
Step 3: Once we both get home for the day we both walk past our moms with our arms up to see if the scent is still there and how strong it is.
Results:
On Tuesday when we tested our products' detection of scent during lunch at approximately 12:30pm. We were a foot away from each other. When we held our right arms up and walked past each other we could still smell the scent strongly. Later that night at 8:00pm we tested it again with our mothers being the scent detectors this time. And me being 1 foot away from my mom, she could still smell mine. Wyseem started out at being one foot away from his mom and she could barely smell his so he had to come closer which means the deodorant has almost worn off. Slightly proving our claim.
On Wednesday, We tested at the same times again which was at 12:30 during our lunch time and this time I stood 2 feet away from Wyseem when I held my right arm up and he could still smell the scent. We did it again when we got home at 8:00pm again and once again my mom could still smell mine but not as strong as Wyseem's mother could smell his. Wyseem's mom had to come closer to him in order to be able to smell his deodorant properly. While gathering these results, we came to the conclusion that Dove Men's deodorant lasts just a bit longer than Degree's Deodorant for Men, but it doesn't last as long as we thought it would.
Statement of Improvement:
As we gathered the results above, we noticed that Dove Men's deodorant is the more dominant deodorant product compared to Degree Men's Deodorant. Although Dove Men's Deodorant is the more dominant product, there are some things that we recommend that the company of Dove's Men's Care products should consider changing. They should work on trying to remove the Stearyl Alcohol from their products. Looking back at research, Stearyl Alcohol is bad for a person internally. it causes severe organ toxicity if not tooken care of properly. If Dove can happen to remove this from their product listings, then this product could potentially be 100% safe and sound for all of their purchasing customers.
