Jergens Shea Butter

How long will the lotion last on dry skin?

I've been using Shea Butter Lotion for the past month for releasing dry skin. Shea Butter is to relieve dryness, replenishes moisture, and improves skin moisture barrier for beautiful, radiant skin. Then Shea Butter is good for some people skin because it smoothing your skin and give out a good scent smelling like coconut. To start my experiment I put the lotion on dry skin and saw how long my skin going to stay moisture's.


Chemistry safety and concerns 

 To start, my experiment I will take a look at the chemical formula that's in the Shea Butter and see how it will moisturize my skin. The main chemical for the Shea Butter seems to be DHA ( dihydroxyacetone) and erythrulose. Dihydroxyacetone is a synthetic compound with strong reducing properties. This lotion is a good use for dry skin. It also smoothing your skin as well. You can a only Jergens lotion only when your skin is not moisturized.

Next, lets take a look at the chemicals that's being formed in this type of lotion. The main chemicals in the lotion is Petroleum another name for Mineral Oil. The petroleum traps a moisture skin, which can clog your pores. Then also the chemicals are water too that hydrates and moisture your skin. These chemicals are most responsible for making sure that your skin is moisturized and smooth everyday. The types of ingredients that's in this lotion are Sodium Dioxide (NaOH), Water (H2O), Titanium Dioxide (TiO2), Glycerin (C3H8O3). All of these ingredients can relate to what we have in chemistry class. With these type chemicals and ingredients this lotion not harmful to the people or the environment it is a good use to go from dry skin to moisturized skin in hours.

Lastly lets define what these chemicals means in Jergens lotion. Sodium Dioxide is a chemical compound that is used by ceramics and glasses, that's not through raw forms. Titanium Dioxide is used as a variety of a personal product care, but as used in lotion it prevents a low risk of exposure.

Experiment and result

For my experiment, I will be tested how long the Jergens Shea Butter lotion will moisturize my skin. I set my timer to 48 hrs and waited for my skin to be dry again.

Procedure 

 1. Wash skin with soap and water

2. Dry skin off with clean towel or wash cloth

3. Once skin is dry start to apply the lotion

4. Set timer to see how long skin will stay moisturized.

5. Then record answer in table.


Last as a result the Shea Butter stayed moistured.

Is TresMee telling the truth?

Introduction: For my project I wanted to test how well other products work against my shampoo. My shampoo claims to soften, nourish, and help retain the texture of natural curly hair. Introduction: Normally hydrocortisone is used for infected skin or irritation, but me I use it daily as a treatment lotion.
